Programme Contributors

Dr. Trish Gorman Ph.D.

Dr. Gorman is Managing Director of the Goff Strategic Leadership Center. She also teaches strategy to students ranging from undergraduates at the University of Utah to senior leaders at Columbia University Executive Education.

As an international consultant, professor and author, Trish has worked with a multitude of diverse audiences on topics related to strategic leadership, uncertainty and innovation. Her past roles include Director of Global Strategy Learning at McKinsey & Company; Director of Growth Thought Leadership at Deloitte, North America; Director of the Global Consulting Practicum at the Wharton School of Business; and Dean of the Jack Welch Management Institute.

Trish has published in the McKinsey Quarterly, Harvard Business Review, Forbes.com, Deloitte Review and other outlets. Her book What I Didn’t Learn in Business School is available in 5 languages.

Trish earned her Ph.D. in Strategy and Economics from Case Western Reserve University, an M.B.A. focused on Strategy and Operations from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA, and a B.A. in the Honors Program in Mathematical Methods in the Social Sciences and Economics (MMSS) from Northwestern University.

Phillip Matthews

Phillip is a consultant helping individuals, teams and organisations towards higher performance. Prior to establishing his own consultancy Phillip occupied the role of President/CEO of the National College of Ireland (NCI) and he was responsible for establishing and directing the executive education centre at UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.

He has spent over 20 years in industry between pharmaceuticals and consulting. He holds a BSc and a PhD in Zoology; he is qualified Executive Coach with Diplomas in Executive Coaching and Advanced Executive Coaching and he has completed Novum PB Coaching and Team Coaching International’s Executive Team Coaching Programmes.

He is an Associate Faculty member at the Irish Management Institute where he acts as Programme Director for the Diploma in Leadership and a number of customised leadership programmes.

Phillip is a former Captain of the Irish Rugby Team and a British & Irish Lion.

Sholeh Johnston

Consultant, coach and creative strategist with experience in creativity research, arts and cultural management, sustainable development, and leadership. She has worked with hundreds of leaders and organisations from the cultural, social and environmental sectors to awaken their creative potential and affect transformative change. Sholeh is director of The Field creative consultancy, and as Associate of Julie’s Bicycle, the world-leading culture and climate change agency.

Andrew McLaughlin

Andrew is a consultant specialising in organisational behaviour. His academic background is in behavioural psychology which he has studied at UCD and Trinity College. Andrew was a faculty member of the Irish Management Institute/UCC for over 20 years teaching mostly at Masters level during that time. He has wide consultancy experience having worked for the EU and OECD in many countries at Government level on changing institutions. Andrew has published research on the Irish Mind, Competency based interviewing in Ireland and Work Life Balance in the Hotel and Catering industries. Andrew has qualifications in several EQ psychometrics including EQI -2, ECR and EQ Maps.

Dr. Jill Walker

Dr. Jill Walker is a psychologist, keynote speaker and expert in personal growth and success.

Described as a “supercoach”, Jill works with high achievers - CEOs, board members, C suite executives, successful entrepreneurs, political leaders and her clients are top global organisations like LinkedIn, Coca Cola, Dropbox, the European Central Bank and YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization). She also lectures on the MBA in Trinity College Dublin.

As a Transformative Executive Coach Jill does powerful, life-changing coaching - helping people create the work and life they REALLY want. She specialises in helping people who have achieved outer success with what else or what more they want from their lives.

Lynda Byron 

Lynda is an experienced leadership and communications coach, trainer and speaker. She works with all levels in large and small companies, nationally and internationally. Much of her work in the past decade has been delivered overseas. Her style is practical and distinctive. She uses creative ways to connect with her audiences and guides and inspires them to build their own success.

Tim Wray

Tim is Professor of Practice (Leadership and Organisational Change) and Director of Executive Education at Warwick Business School (WBS).

Tim has over 20 years experience as a practitioner, consultant and executive educator specialising in strategic change, leadership, organisational communication and employee engagement.

A former Director of Executive Education at Nottingham University Business School in the UK, and the Irish Management Institute in Dublin, he has successfully delivered executive development programmes at senior levels for leading international companies in a range of sectors and has worked with the top teams of a number of large public sector organisations in the UK and Ireland.

Most recently he was Programme Director of the Irish Management Institute's Senior Executive Programme and Post Graduate Diploma in Leadership and the Insurance Institute of Ireland's flagship Certified Insurance Director Programme.

In the UK he has designed and delivered a number of senior executive programmes in conjunction with the University of Nottingham, including Walgreens Boots Alliance, Tarmac and Gleeds.

Tim also ran his own consulting business, Clear Future.
